UCI Starts Construction on New Hospital

UC Irvine broke ground on a $1.3 billion medical complex on Monday, November 15, 2021. The CO Architects + Hensel Phelps team was selected to design and construct the hospital for University of California, Irvine and UCI Health. The new campus includes a 144-bed, 350,000-square-foot hospital, comprising an emergency department, inpatient bed services, operating rooms, pre/post observation beds, inpatient imaging and support services. The project also includes a 220,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center, a central utility plant and a 1,400-space parking structure. The full-service medical complex will bring a broad range of the most advanced healthcare services to Orange County.
