UCI Health – Irvine

The CO Architects + Hensel Phelps Design-Build team is partnering with UCI Health to develop a groundbreaking new healthcare complex at the edge of the city, overlooking the protected San Joaquin Marsh nature preserve. Serving as a gateway between bustling urban life and untouched natural landscape, the campus is designed as a unique healthcare destination emphasizing biophilic principles and sustainability. UCI Health – Irvine will be the first all-electric hospital in the nation, setting a new standard for environmentally responsible healthcare infrastructure.

Every aspect of the medical center is thoughtfully planned to enhance the patient and staff experience, from seamless admission and treatment processes to restorative, light-filled spaces that promote healing. The campus includes a 144-bed, 350,000-square-foot hospital, comprising an emergency department, inpatient bed services, operating rooms, pre/post observation beds, inpatient imaging and support services. A 220,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center will offer outpatient surgery and procedure rooms, diagnostic and imaging services, oncology treatment and infusion facilities, clinical exam rooms, a pharmacy, and support services. CO Architects is the Architect for the Design-Build team.
